What is a Healthy BMI?

A healthy Body Mass Index or healthy BMI is the appropriate body weight in relation to one’s height. If you are underweight, your BMI will be less than 18.5. If you are overweight, your BMI will range between 25 to 29.9. If you are obese, your BMI is 30 or higher. A healthy BMI will be between 18.5 and 24.9. If you are unsure of what your BMI is, check out an online BMI calculator to help you see if you fall within a healthy BMI range.

Your BMI will help doctors quickly evaluate whether you are at increased risk of diseases such as cardiovascular disease, hypertension, type 2 diabetes and certain cancers.

Plus, knowing your BMI will help doctors decide if you are a candidate for our ReShape Gastric Balloon™ procedure. Although BMI can be helpful in a clinical setting, it’s not infallible and can over- or under-estimate fatness in some people.

To see if your BMI is in the correct range for the ReShape Balloon procedure, please visit our website, here.
